Sweep at the hands of Winnipeg Wild ends three game winning streak
The Parkland Rangers will look to put two disappointing days behind them as they look ahead to their second road trip of the season this weekend. The Rangers will board the ‘old iron lung’ and head south to Morden for a pair of games against the Pembina Valley Hawks on the heels of two lopsided losses to the Wild. The trip will give the Parkland squad an opportunity to get back on track as they strive to find a consistent identity.
Saturday night the Rangers fell 7-1 to the two-time defending champions, despite 43 saves from Chase Glover and a Linden Smigelsky goal. Cam Sarna returned from illness to pick up an assist on Smigelsky’s first of the season. Sunday saw Ethan Myhre make 46 saves in a solid effort for the rookie.
Despite the disappointing results from the weekend, the Rangers still find themselves with 10 points through 12 games. They are currently tied with the 4-8-0 Hawks and 4-7-2 Norman North Stars and one point back of the Yellowhead Chiefs who hold down the final playoff spot in the MU18HL standings. The upcoming five game road swing takes the team to Morden for a pair of games with Pembina Valley, then on to Kenora for a weekend series with the Thistles before they visit Shoal Lake to square off with the Chiefs.
